Having the right apparel is key to your success.

It’s March, and that means one thing, weather is unpredictable.
Baseball is in full swing across the country and with an unseasonably warm February, teams have been able to get out on the field early and often. Don’t be fooled! March has brought extremely warm days, followed by rain and more rain and now a cold front across the country with snow reported across the midwest, Northeast and North.
When playing baseball in cold weather, there are a few things you should be aware of to stay healthy and avoid injury:
Dress appropriately: Wear warm clothing, such as layers, gloves, and a hat. Consider wearing thermal underwear to help regulate your body temperature. Make sure your cleats are appropriate for the field conditions to prevent slipping.
Stay hydrated: Even in cold weather, you still need to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Bring a water bottle and drink regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Warm-up properly: Take extra time to warm up your muscles and stretch before playing. Cold muscles are more prone to injury, so take your time to get your blood flowing.
Take breaks: Don’t push yourself too hard. Take breaks when you need to rest or warm up.
Protect your skin: Even in cold weather, the sun can still cause damage to your skin. Wear sunscreen and lip balm to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays.
Be aware of hypothermia: If you start to feel excessively cold or shivery, take a break and warm up. Hypothermia can be dangerous, so take it seriously.
Listen to your body: If you start to feel pain or discomfort, stop playing and take a break. Don’t push through pain or injury, as this can lead to more serious issues down the road.
By following these tips, you can stay healthy and safe while playing baseball in cold weather.
